Emissions legislation in China is the responsibility of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) (formerly the Ministry for Environmental Protection (MEP)). The China VI standards for compression ignition and gas engines were released in June 2018 and are being introduced from 1 July 2019.
Currently, new gasoline vehicles have to comply with Stage IV standards.
